Spirit of Community
Skating is many things to many people: a challenge, a passion, a competition, a creative outlet.

But what is common to all of us involved in the skating universe is the community that we have found from our love of this sport. Even though the sport of figure skating spans the globe, the community is familiar and close-knit. When one of our community is hurt, we all feel the pain.

Part of SCIA's mission is to promote and strengthen our community in Southern California in our own, small way. We are here to cheer each other on and to lift each other up. As such, from our general fund, SCIA has donated to two causes to assist those in our immediate and broader skating communities:
Los Angeles County Relief Fund to assist those affected by the wildfires this winter.

US Figure Skating Family Support Fund to assist the families directly impacted by the tragic loss of AA flight #5342.

We are all grieving.
